Well I hooked up this card properly into my mobo... I plugged the wire into my camcorder and and turned it on into viewmode it made the sound when you connect devices to your computer but when I opened Premiere and tried to capture it didn't detect the the device. I tried in WIndows Movie Maker as well but it would'nt detect the camcorder.

Was the card autodetected by the operating system after you installed it (i.e. "new hardware found" pop-up) ? Was a driver installed correctly? Go into control panel and look under "System", select the "Hardware" tab and "device Manager" to see if the device has been installed correctly.

I didn't get a pop up but

In Device Manager it saids... (not sure if this is the FireWire Card)
-IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers
-NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller
