I have received quite a comprehensive reply under the said circumstances, from NCIX. I am happy with their service behind what they are selling. However, I have contacted AOpen directly prior to contacting NCIX support, I thought that they are in a much better position to answer my questions, as they manufactured the product. I receive nothing from them … that explains ….
Ryuji, thanks!
Harvey

Dated May 11, 2007 at 04:36 PM reply from Ncix Support Hi Harvey,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Unfortunately I do not have a sample modem to look at to give you an answer I can be absolutely confident with so I will need to go by past experience. Most likely the 3pin cable you have is for a WOL (Wake on Lan) header. Basically when the modem receives a call it sends a signal through the cable to wake the computer up. This is rarely used now as most computers come with a 'Power on by PCI Device' feature. If you go into the BIOS and look under the Power menu under the APM configuration, you will see this option. Set it to Enable and your computer should wake (if the modem supports it) when a call comes in. As for the four pin connector, I'm guessing it's a TAD cable (the wires should be red/black/black/white). You can to connect this from the modem to your motherboard's CD IN located toward the left side of the motherboard between PCI slots 2 and 3. With this cable connected, if your software supports it, you should be able to record phone messages.
Hope this helps out a bit.

Ryuji Kita
